DEVOTIONAL
GRATITUDE FOR THE KING
Deuteronomy 8:11-20
Many of us have cried out to the Lord in our time of need and God has come through and rescued us. He has set our paths straight and brought us out of our misery. Life goes from being unbearable and too much to handle to a blessing filled with peace and joy.
God knows our strengths and our weaknesses and He understands that during times of great distress we will cry out to Him. He also knows that when we find ourselves in seasons of peace and abundance we will usually forget about His sufficiency and provision.
When we choose to follow in His ways it reminds us of how much He has done for us.
We show Him gratitude by honoring Him which in turn draws us closer to Him, producing faith and strengthening our relationship with our Father.
It is easy for us to take hold of the blessings and dismiss the Blessor, taking credit for our situation because of our own hard work and talents. But when we dismiss the God who rescued us, it drives a wedge between us and God and that is when destruction comes. We open ourselves up to the schemes and tactics of the enemy and we will find ourselves all alone, broken, and defeated.
We must never forget who God is, what He has done for us, and that we were created to honor and glorify Him. This life is a training ground, a testing ground, to humble us, to refine us, and to transform us so we are able to better serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
MAIN TAKE-AWAY:
Worship the Blessor, not the blessings
PRAYER:
Father God, please forgive me for all the times that I have fallen short and taken credit for the praises and honor that was rightfully yours. God please give me a heart of humility and help me understand that I was created for your glory and not my own. God thank you for never giving up on me and for blessing me when I least deserved it. You give me purpose and life. In Jesus’ powerful and mighty name I pray. Amen
