DEVOTIONAL
A HEART FIXED ON THE LORD
Deuteronomy 11:18
God, speaking through Moses, gave clear instruction to the people.
The words chosen were intentional and it was to remind the Israelites of who they are to God and who He is to them. He warns them to not be led astray, but rather to fix his words into their hearts and minds. He wanted them to take the wisdom he was giving them and to press it into their heart and soul.
This is a picture of them permanently applying these things in their lives. The purpose in doing that is so they will never forget their relationship to the Lord. He instructs them to bind the words of God on their hands and their foreheads.
He desired that they live their lives in righteousness.
To bind them on their hands was to live in such a way that they stay tethered to the Lord. Our hands are a symbol of work and our foreheads are a symbol of our thinking or thoughts. Our relationship to the Lord should not only affect the way we act but also the way we think.
If we remember God and focus on Him as we go through our day, even in the things we don’t think matter, it changes everything.

How we think and act matters
PRAYER:
Father God, please continue to transform and mold me into a more useful tool to be used for your glory. Lord help me to resist the temptation to be led astray and give me the ability to stay focused on you as I go through my day. You are my rock and my salvation and may I never take that for granted. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
