REMEMBER THE LORD
Deuteronomy 8:2
Forty years of wandering in the wilderness is a long time. For some of us, we have been wandering through this world our entire lives searching for something that has been right in front of our face the whole time. Scripture says that those who wholeheartedly seek the truth will find it (Jeremiah 29:13). God is patient and pursues all, not wanting any to perish (2 Peter 3:9).
In Deuteronomy 8:2 Moses instructs the people to never forget what God had done for them. The forty years that His people had been wandering was purposeful. God used that time to reveal Himself to His people as well as to refine them. Before they could enter into the promised land they needed to be changed. For some they refused and perished in the wilderness. For others, they placed their faith in God and inherited the blessings God had promised them.
These verses should embolden us in our faith as we see God’s heart for His people. God has not changed, He remains the same now as He was back then. He wants us to first trust in Him with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and second, to never forget what He has done in our lives. We must live our lives in the freedom we have in Jesus Christ, but never forget to honor and glorify Him who set us free.
MAIN TAKE-AWAY:
Remember to give God the glory
PRAYER:
Abba Father, Thank you for always being there for me. You are the Rock on which I stand and I know that You will never let me down. Please continue the good work that You have started in me and let my life point other people to You. Thank you for rescuing me from my troubles and giving me hope. Please let me remain steadfast in the calling You have set before me and may Your name be glorified in all that I do. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
